- Moving with waters - as a grief tending ritual for community care
A collective moment of tending to our grief for queer people and their allies. An invitation to come together, honor one another's presence and share what we are going through into instable time.
Here, grief does not merely represent the death of loved ones, but also the full complexity of feelings connected to loss and transformation related to material, physical, emotional, spiritual, and so on. Connecting with what we have lost allows us to transform emotions that have become stagnant and sometimes leave us feeling stuck. It means being in touch with what is alive.
Together, through active listening, we can experiment the role of both witness and/or storyteller. A somatic approach involving body practices is offered at the start and end of the session to support us to integrate softly without being overwhelmed by our sensation/emotions.
You are going through burnout? You feel isolated? You have lost a loved one or loved ones ? You feel powerless in the face of the political situation or climate change? You afraid about the future? You long for connection, to rediscover meaning in being vulnerable together? Whether you're verbal or non-verbal, feeling energized or exhausted, beginner, confused, skeptical or confident – you're welcome.
No prior experience is required to take part. We simply ask that you bring with you an object that relates with your grief.

Do I need to have lost a loved one to participate ?
No. The concept of grief can take many shapes. It can involve the loss of a part of oneself, a change in identity, the end of a meaningfull relationship, naviguating chronic illness or disability, lossing your job, and so on.
We also emphasize to collective aspects as the powerlessness in the face of genocide, the damage caused by the climate crisis, the many fragmentations imposed by capitalist, imperialist system, and so on.
What is the frame for sharing, listening, witnessing ?
> Each person's speaking time ranges from 5 to 8 minutes.
> Listening as a witness posture with no interruptions, no advice, no comparisons to your own experience.
> We speak from our own experience, using the first-person singular "I."
> Be mindful of the group : Of course, sharing personal experiences is welcome. That said, we all resonate with one another and may have different reactions to certain sensitive topics. We ask you to avoid going into too much into details about your personal experiences. We focused on the impact rather than what happened.
> Respect for confidentiality: Everything said during the event stays within the event space. Avoid mentioning people present outside of this space without their consent.
> All experiences are important and deserve to be shared - All languages are welcome.
I'm scared to be overwhelmed by my emotions
Yes, it makes sense that this might seem overwhelming at first, especially because we live in a system where the concept of grief is still viewed as taboo and unproductive, and our ability to cope with it has been taken over the centuries.
However, creating spaces to work through our grief does not bring more pain; actually the oposite. It reconnects us to our desire to live, to fight, to appreciate, to love, and to expand our capacity to be present in our communities.
The pace we offer is slow and gentle, with integrative body based exercises. We are not seeking catharsis or intensity, but rather to remain in a relatively comfortable and manageable zone.
We invite you to take whatever role feels most appropriate to you. You can simply listen without sharing. You can write if that feels more accessible to you. You can take breaks or leave the space if it doesn't feel right for you.
That said, these workshops are not a substitute for a therapeutic process. You remain responsible for your own emotional implication ; especially if you have recently lost someone in the last few months. We encourage you to reevaluate your ability to navigate this type of space. Make sure you have the necessary individual support outside of this setting. If you have any questions or specific needs, please feel free to write to us.
