Leo Luna Tourneur ( they / them )

I am an artist and somatic practitioner, white identify as trans non binary. I was born and raised near Liège in Belgium in a upper-middle-class family working in retail. I am currently based in Brussels. My practice is grounded both in various certified training courses and in my own experience. The one where I embody a transgender, multiple, complex and political body.

I discovered somatic practices at the start of my transition following a burnout, and this transformed my relationship with myself and the world around me. Reconnecting with my body through somatic therapy helped me to understand my needs, identify my emotions and regain the ability to embody and thrive in a world where I didn't feel any sense of belonging. I am committed to offering, passing on and sharing this wonderful approach to my community and beyond.

I come from an artistic background. I study fine arts from a very young age. I worked in the world of animated film and directed several short films. I have always had an interest in story telling and using symbolic, fantasy and poetic languages to navigate the word. Today, I am moved when listening to stories other than my own, and honored to discover how bodies and energies express themselves and unfold when they are allowed to.

I spend quite a bit of time in queer kink and BDSM community, either as a participant and/or an assistant. These are spaces that nourish me and challenge me in how to navigate intimacy, consent and sexuality outside of gendered and heteronormative standards.

How do I approach our proccess ?

I like to invite gentleness, slowness, curiosity, imagination, poetry, fragility and complexity, and make space for whatever is alive during the session. I am deeply moved by the invisible, intangible and suttles spaces between what's moving ; the whispers, the things that cannot be explained in words. Among other things, I often use my touch as a means of connection, though not exclusively. The aim is to be attuned to what best suits the current situation and your needs.

My artistic sensibility opens up many creative possibilities during sessions. I like to draw on metaphorical language to give shape to sensations. Images create narratives that are sometimes easier for some people to navigate and understand.

I have the desire to develop a community-based practice centered on grief and explore the shape it can take when experienced collectively.

As a white body I recognize that I belong and benefit from an imperialist system with a colonial legacy, which contributes to racist oppression. I am committed to taking responsibility for the consequences this entails and to actively educating myself on these issues.

FAQ

What's happen during a session?

They begin with a conversation similar to talk therapy. You share whatever you need to share, and together we decide on an intention and an approach to involve your body in the conversation. There is a moment of integration at the end of the session, which can take various forms, followed by a brief debrief.

No specific body-mind experience is required. The sessions start from where you are at your own pace.

Sessions last 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes.

What kind of touch ?

My touch is intuitive, relational and intentional. It can soothe, envelop, open, stimulate circulation, provide support, and so on, depending on the situation.

It is not a massage, even though it may sometimes be similar. Sessions are fully clothed and verbal dialogue continues throughout the session in order to meet what you are experiencing.

There is little or no specific anatomical focus. The genital areas are never touched directly.

Touch is always optional. You are free to use self-touch or no touch at all depending on your needs and accessibility at the time of the session.

Who are these sessions aimed for ?

  • People who don't feel not in touch with their bodies/emotions.
  • People who experience being overwhelmed by too many physical sensations and find it difficult to regulate or identify their emotions.
  • People who feel talk therapy does not seem enough.
  • People suffering from chronic and/or unexplained pain.
  • People who wish to find tools to help symptoms linked to stress, anxiety, depression, burnout and/or post-traumatic symptoms.
  • Artists experiencing a lack of inspiration or creative blank, with a need to (re)connect with their intentions.
  • Transgender, transsexual, non-binary and/or questioning individuals on their transition journey.
  • People going through a period grief.
  • Anyone who feels the need to connect through touch and intimacy.
  • People who feel marginalized in terms of their identities and/or sexuality, or in the way they relate to others.
  • ...

I welcome all kinds of people as clients. Most are part of the queer/LGBTQ community, activist, of which I am also a part.

How long time for a complete processus ?

The duration may vary depending on your needs, your background and the frequency of sessions. You can come for a one-shot session to discuss a specific issue. You can also start a longer-term process with a frequency that we can agree on together based on your availability and resources.

The process can be paused and resumed at your own pace; it's up to you to decide what suits you best. If you decide to stop the process abruptly, I will always offer you the opportunity of a closing session at the end of the process or before a break.
